For HR and Benefits leaders, Chelsea’s experience shows how financial wellbeing programs reach far beyond individual employees. They support entire families and shape financial confidence across generations. Chelsea grew up in a household where money was stressful and often avoided as a topic. As a parent, she wants to create a different financial experience for her daughter, one built on confidence, openness, and values. LearnLux supported her in unlearning old patterns and building new habits that feel healthy and sustainable.
With LearnLux, Chelsea was able to:
Chelsea’s story reflects a growing priority among working parents. Many want to break cycles of financial stress and raise children who feel secure, empowered, and informed. When employers offer financial wellbeing resources that support the whole family, they create stronger employee engagement, healthier financial habits, and a sense of stability that carries into future generations.
Hi, my name is Chelsea, and I wanted to share my LearnLux story. Growing up, I was raised by a single mother and we didn’t have a lot. Money was tight, and I remember deeply the stress that came with that. Now that I’m a parent in a comfortable financial place, I find myself constantly walking this tightrope, wanting to make sure my child never feels that same scarcity, but also catching myself if I start to overcompensate.
I’ve got the basics down: budgeting, an emergency fund, and no large amounts of debt. But I had to unlearn a lot of the emotion that is tied with money. I don’t want money to be a taboo topic with my daughter, and the Kids and Money webinar helped me so much.
When it comes to talking about money with my daughter, I’ve learned it’s not just about numbers, it’s about values. I want to give her everything, but I also want to teach her the value of things, the importance of gratitude, and how to make smart choices. With what I’ve learned from LearnLux, I try to keep it age appropriate.
When she was younger, it was as simple as explaining that money comes from work and we make choices about how to use it. Now that she’s seven years old, we involve her in real conversations. We talk about budgeting for groceries, saving for vacations, even why we have to say no to certain things - not to stress her out, but to show her how decisions are made.
I also share my own experience. I tell her I didn’t have much growing up, and that shaped how I think about money today. It opens the door for empathy and helps her understand why I might be extra cautious or generous. Ultimately, I want my child to feel secure, but also empowered. And LearnLux has helped me so much with all of that.
Talking about money isn’t just about avoiding mistakes, it’s about building confidence, curiosity, and a sense of responsibility.
Thank you Chelsea for sharing your LearnLux story!
