For HR and Benefits leaders, Douglas’s experience highlights how a strong financial wellbeing program can support employees who are nearing retirement and need clarity to make confident decisions. At 61, he wanted guidance on topics like Social Security, Medicare, Roth conversions, long term care, and tax planning. LearnLux helped him understand these subjects in a simple and approachable way.
Through LearnLux, Douglas was able to:
Douglas’s experience shows how personalized financial education helps employees prepare for major life transitions. When individuals have the support they need to retire with confidence, employers benefit as well. Employees who are prepared for retirement are more likely to retire on time, which creates smoother workforce planning, more predictable staffing costs, and greater financial stability for the entire organization.
Hi, I'm Doug. I'm 61 and been on a learning curve, learning about retirement and retirement planning for about six years now. I found that LearnLux has a wealth of information, pre recorded even, which I really enjoy because I can take it at my own time and pace to learn about various topics like Social Security and Medicare and Roth conversions and all of that.
I connected with a Financial Planner because I wanted to validate my thinking about in plan Roth conversions and whether or not I was thinking correctly about them, because I'm trying to plan for source diversification for when I enter retirement to deal with taxes. The conversation was outstanding.
She was able to validate my thinking, and she brought up one subject, long term care insurance, that I didn't mention, which I thought was excellent because she really knew her stuff and she covered all the bases and made sure that I was thinking about everything I need to think about. I've re scheduled a full plan workup with her and I'm waiting for that to be ready in about a week. Hopefully that will give me enough information about how I'm thinking about my plan and where I want to go with it, as I look to find a financial planner to lead us through retirement once I leave my company, and so that my wife is there and able to handle all the same things if for some reason I am not there.
So LearnLux has been a great resource. I really appreciate all the help that they give, and all the information on the platform is outstanding.
Thank you Douglas for sharing your story!
